In Gazipur, disgruntled workers have set fire to a garment factory
On Monday (October 30th), around 5 o'clock in the morning, workers broke through the factory gate and set fire to the inside. Fire service and local residents reported that workers in the vicinity had been protesting for a wage increase since the morning. During the protest, there were several clashes with the police. Later, the police used force to disperse them, and one worker was killed in the afternoon. When this news spread, the workers became even more agitated.
Afterward, they went on a rampage in the vicinity. They even vandalized a vehicle belonging to Gazipur DBL Fire Service. In a desperate turn of events, they set fire to the ABM factory. The fire service is currently working to control the fire.
Abdullah Al Arefin, the Deputy Director of the Fire Service, said that initially, the protesting workers set fire to the Jamuna Fashion factory, and later, they set fire to the ABM factory. Fire control operations are underway.
